Plot Summary: When detectives Sikes and Francisco is presented with the mysterious death of an Eeno, Matt is stupefied to discover that George rudely snubs the case. He, like most newcomers, reviles the outcast Eenos. As the case unfolds, George has to reassess his prejudices, and George's family help save the city from an alien threat originating in an Eeno waste disposal facility.

Albert approaches George with an unusual request that puts the Francisco's marriage to the test. And Matt and Cathy move in together and find themselves learning more about each other.

Plot Summary: When a mysterious child is found, many believe she could be a half-human and half-Tenctonese child. Matt and George, with Cathy's help, investigate where this child came from and who her parents may be. The child appears to have a very odd relationship with a large Tenctonese man.

Meanwhile, Matt and Cathy decide to move their relationship to the next step, which results in injury. They realize that they need to attend an inter-species sex class before becoming intimate, and Buck distresses his parents by his anti-human opinions.

Matt tries to suppress his growing feelings for Cathy by dating another woman.

During Matt's search for answers he faces some of the demons from his own past.

George is asked to be the coach of Emily's little league team and looks for guidance from Matt.

Plot Summary:

Exploitation is the name of the game as George Francisco becomes the focus of a local news station’s special report on the life of a Newcomer police officer, with the follow-up on his activities for an entire week. George becomes egocentric with all the attention, alienating his family and Sikes, while his work begins to suffer. Concurrently, Sikes and George are assigned the case of Newcomer Virginia Hamm, performer in a video phone-sex--line service, who has been violently assaulted.

Sikes and Cathy discuss the sexuality of both humans and Tenctonese, each expressing curiosity about the other. While not taken any further in this episode, there is a sense that they are moving closer to having a serious relationship.

Plot Summary: A series of murders in which the victims are burned to death is tied to a mysterious Tenctonese box that keeps transferring from person to person. George is shocked to learn that one of the people involved in the killing is Uncle Moodri, who is a member of the Edlers, the Newcomers chosen to keep the old ways alive in the minds of future generations.

The search for the box intensifies, with Sikes and George finally coming to understand it's importance to the memory of the Tenctons' home plant.

As a subplot, Sikes becomes a big brother to a youth, first to avoid weekend police duty, and then because he realizes the importance of reaching out to others in need

Plot Summary: Susan and Buck decide to become heavily involved in politics, as an amendment to the constitution which guarantees equal rights for Newcomers is soon to be voted on throughout the land.

A series of attacks is launched on campaign headquarters and important Newcomers are involved in the ongoing struggle, resulting in a growing sympathy for the Tenctonese. Everyone blames the Purists, but Sikes and George aren't so easily convinced. In the meantime, Sikes, who has been drafted as the leader of his building's tenant association, learns of the necessity of the democratic system, even on such a basic level.
