Plot Summary: A few years from now, Earth will have the first contact with an alien civilization. These aliens, known as Newcomers, slowly begin to be integrated into human society after years of quarantine but are victims of a new type of discrimination. When the first Newcomer police officer, Sam Francisco is assigned his new partner, he is given Matthew Sykes , a mildly racist veteran, the animosity between them soon gives way to respect as they investigate the Newcomer underworld, and especially Newcomer leader William Harcourt.

Buck decides he wants to follow in his father's footsteps and joins the police academy.

Plot Summary: When detectives Sikes and Francisco is presented with
the mysterious death of an Eeno, Matt is stupefied to discover that
George rudely snubs the case. He, like most newcomers, reviles the
outcast Eenos. As the case unfolds, George has to reassess his
prejudices, and George's family help save the city from an alien threat
originating in an Eeno waste disposal facility.
Albert approaches George with an unusual request that puts the
Francisco's marriage to the test. And Matt and Cathy move in together
and find themselves learning more about each other.

Plot Summary: When a mysterious child is found, many believe she
could be a half-human and half-Tenctonese child. Matt and George, with
Cathy's help, investigate where this child came from and who her parents
may be. The child appears to have a very odd relationship with a large
Tenctonese man.
Meanwhile, Matt and Cathy decide to move their relationship to the
next step, which results in injury. They realize that they need to
attend an inter-species sex class before becoming intimate, and Buck
distresses his parents by his anti-human opinions.

Matt tries to suppress his growing feelings for Cathy by dating another woman.

George is asked to be the coach of Emily's little league team and looks for guidance from Matt.
